StoryFace is an OpenSource prototype paving the way towards intelligent electronic paper. If anyone wants to pitch in an idea feel free to post them in our forums. We'll add the best ones :) Remember, everything goes back to the community, so don't be stingy with your ideas unless you plan to patent/create them. Otherwise, it's just a Dream Unborn.

One thing you may notice while reading a book on StoryFace are plenty of features available, let me go over a few:

  1. Highlight Feature: Using this you can highlight text which you find important, this highlighted text will stay highlighted the next time you view the page (perhaps a year later?)

  2. Shopping Cart: Who said you couldn't shop for something free? Here you can “buy” these timeless classics, basically this means the book will be saved in “my books” on your user account. It's fun to buy things when they're free :)

  3. AJAX Powered: Yup, it's true, we've caught onto the new catchphrase as well, and damn, this stuff is slick. It makes your book almost feel real! We have a few AJAX features:

    • When you turn a page, the page actually flips up and over. This means you never have to leave the page, and your reading is uninhibited. You can also choose from a myriad of other effects, however, I prefer the good ol' default.

    • Encyclopedia, Dictionary, Rhyming Dictionary, and Thesaurus all easily accessible while you are reading your book. So, let's say you are reading and you come across a word you don't know: To appease your curiosity you would simply pull that word over to the dictionary drop box, and watch the definition pop up! When you are done you can close out the Dictionary Widget via the “x” icon in the traditional top-right position. Again, all this happens without you leaving the page!

Thanks to Project Gutenburg and others like it, this archive includes 47,318 books (as of right now, when you read this... yes, we're stalking you). Such popular classics as Pride & Prejudice, The Invisible Man, and Through the Looking Glass (aka Alice in Wonderland) are free to “checkout” from our library. You may also print them, if you wish.
